Our group is part of the Signalling lab at the Babraham Institute. We are interested in activators of the small G protein Rac, an essential regulator of cell shape and motility, gene expression and reactive oxygen species formation. A few years ago, we discovered a new family of Rac activators, the P-Rex family of guanine-nucleotide exchange factors. Since then, we have been studying their functional importance and mode of regulation, concentrating mainly on two cell systems, neutrophils and the Purkinje neuron of the cerebellum.
