Summary
Our lab studies the role of the immune system in cardiovascular disease. The main focus of the lab is on atherosclerosis. We are specifically interested in the role of monocytes, monocyte-derived macrophages and dendritic cells. This includes interaction with other immune cells such as T lymphocytes as well as the function of specific cytokines and chemokines. Our goal is to identify novel pathomechanisms of atherogenesis, which may result in novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Additional research projects of the lab include pathomechanisms of transplant vasculopathy, mechanisms of acute cardiac allograft rejection and effects of cardiovascular inflammation on myocardial function.
